Today marks the 200th day anniversary of the current crisis in Gaza. For cancer patients in Gaza, this crisis has been especially devastating. According to the Mariam Foundation, there are over 10,000 adults and 750 children with cancer. For the past 200 days, many of these patients have lost access to medical care and treatment. We are proud to partner with the Mariam Foundation to provide lifesaving aid to Gazans suffering from cancer. The Mariam Foundation is working to help support current treatments at hospitals in the south of Gaza and supporting patients and families to seek treatment in Egypt; however, only 350 applicants out of 2500 have been approved.
CIDO has a long history of helping provide access to healthcare in Palestine and around the world. CIDO has partnered with the Canadian government to deliver hospital beds to St. Joseph’s Hospital in East Jerusalem and 75 wheelchairs to the Abu Raya Rehabilitation Centre in Ramallah. CIDO has cohosted an obstetrics conference on preterm delivery in East Jerusalem and coordinated the delivery of a portable CT scanner to the Regional Hospital of Sunyani in Ghana. CIDO’s extensive track record of leading initiatives to expand access to healthcare aligns seamlessly with our collaboration with the Mariam Foundation.
This is why CIDO has launched an Urgent Gaza Relief Fund in partnership with the Mariam Foundation to provide support during these difficult times. As a registered Canadian charity with decades of experience implementing successful healthcare projects in Palestine, rest assured that your donation will truly make a meaningful impact.
Here is how your donation will help:
- $50 provides two days of meals for one cancer patient.
- $100 provides two weeks of supplies for one cancer patient.
- A one-time contribution of $250 provides much needed financial assistance for a family of a cancer patient.
- $500 provides medical coverage for one cancer patient including medications, surgical prevention services and treatment (mammograms, colonoscopy) and so on.
- $1000 provides one year of daily companionship for a child with cancer whose parents were denied entry by the Israeli Authorities.
